Road Trip
Okay so I have decided to take a road trip. Heading to Asheboro tomorrow morning, it’s about 120 miles away so will get up about 3:30 a.m. and head out. Hope to hit two estate sales and several garage sales.
Meanwhile have written and scheduled over 30 listings for eBay , these include some North Carolina Pottery. North Carolina pottery is made in two regions primarily - Sanford and Seagrove there are other pockets but these are the two most collectible I believe. The clay is indigenous to the area. Great Potters come from the region and many of the pottery houses, like Owens and Cole are generational family run businesses. The challenge is to find older pieces made by the original potters.
Its not particularly collectible once you get outside the North Carolina region. Though one item that has alot of appeal to many people are face jugs. We only have one and I have to say the uglier these are the more people like them! Ours is particularly ugly.
News was not good for the economy. Really just furthers my anticipation that we will have to really tighten our belts and find inventory for much less money. Use to be I counted on about a 33% profit but recent months have indicated that this is shrinking. So cross your fingers I stumble on some good things!
