sales and gas.

No I don’t have gas.. :) I just noticed that recently our sales have gone up. Sure some of it is we have had better inventory a large slug of Case XX knives, all from the 80’s and all unused, some higher end antiques from estate sales and some good luck with garage sales. I have to believe though that some of it is the recent drop in gas prices and the coming election. As the sales increase corresponded.

There are other things as well that impact sales - Vactions are over for the most part. Folks are back home and settled into the school year routine. Kids are starting back to school - here in the south they are already back in school.
All of which impacts how many people are using their computers and how much cash they have on hand.

Which brings me to my point- there are things that are out of our control that impact internet shopping. Major trunks can go down causing slow internet traffic in some areas, and no internet traffic in others, holidays, vacations, gas prices, and holidays all have some impact. We see decreased sales every single year at tax time, when people are paying their taxes or waiting for their refunds. We see sales ramp up every year after summer vacation and through the Holidays.

Knowing these trends can help you purchase inventory. By wisely. Start looking for Christmas Decoration and themed items in summer months to put up for November sales. Look for halloween costumes, decorations, etc. in July/Aug. for sales in September. We try and find some great auctoin or estate sale in Sept/Oct. and bulk up on inventory to insure we have enough to carry us through the Christmas Season.

Trends are different if you are selling new items, or commodities. For example I suspect Computer software and accessories are hot right now- as are school bags and clothes. Knowing your market and your markets seasons can be really helpful.
